Last week the Minister of Public Works the Hon. Craig Cannonier JP MP visited the newly constructed bathrooms at White Hill Field. The bathrooms were built by Junior’s Maintenance. The tender for the new bathroom facility was put out by the Ministry of Public Works last year.
The public may recall that these works were mentioned in the 2016 Speech From the Throne.
Mr. Speaker, upon assuming this role, there was one overarching goal that I wished to address during my tenure – Improving the Quality of Life for Bermudians.
To meet this goal, I set about doing several things – all aimed at making life easier for the Bermudian public.
First was improving critical government infrastructure. In the Ministry of Public Works context, this is described as infrastructure vital for the functioning of a society and its economy. For us it means roadways, bridges, waste disposal, water treatment, and ports.
"Our Highways teams are working to address the pothole issues that plague our roads," said Minister of Public Works, Lt. Col. the Hon. David A. Burch, OBE (Mil), ED, JP, MP, in an update on the Government's efforts to repair public roads.
The Ministry of Public Works is actively addressing the issue of potholes across Bermuda's road network. This has impacted the motoring public, especially following the recent heavy rainfall, which has exacerbated the situation.
“The decision to demolish the tower has not been taken lightly,” stated Minister of Public Works Lt. Col. the Hon. David Burch, OBE (Mil), ED, JP, MP, on the decision to demolish the Lookout Tower near Paynter’s Road, Hamilton Parish.
The tower is a historical landmark located within the woodland reserve and originally erected by the US Navy during World War II to serve as a lookout point for potential attacks on the Island.
The Government of Bermuda’s Tynes Bay Waste-to-Energy Facility would like to enter into an agreement with a suitably qualified contractor to supply, install and commission two travelling band screens for the removal of debris from the sea water cooling system.

This Request for Quotations (the "RFQ") is an invitation by the Govenment of Bermuda (the "Government") to prospective respondents to submit non-binding quotations for Supply and Delivery of Aggregates for Asphalt Paving, as further described in Section A of the RFQ Particulars (Appendix D) (the "Deliverables").
The Government requires the following aggregate, in conformity with the quantities and specifications set out in this RFQ:
1. 3,390 MT of No. 7 Stone, ASTM D448-12
2. 6,857 MT of Sand (Dirty) ASTM D1073-16, Grade 1
This Request for Supplier Qualifications ("RFSQ") is an invitation by the Government of Bermuda (the "Government") to prospective respondents to qualify in accordance with Evaluation of Responses (Part 2) for eligibility to provide Specified Goods and Services as further described in Section A of the RFSQ Particulars (Appendix B) (the "Deliverables").
The Ministry of Public Works [MPW] seeks to generate a list of prequalified Contractors who are interested in providing goods and services for the Government's 2023-2024 fiscal year.
The Ministry of Public Works seeks to generate a list of prequalified companies that are interested in being included in an approved list of HDPE pipe and duct installation contractors. The government intends to issue at least two pipe installation contracts of 12,000 feet to 17,000 feet of pipes ranging in size from 6" in diameter to 12" in diameter in the near to medium term.Pre-qualified and ranked Contractor's and Service Providers may then be invited to participate in a second stage, fast-track tender process for pipe installation projects.
This Request for Quotations is for the external painting of seven Government schools as follows:
