Bermuda shipping to trade off of most-favoured-nation status

The People’s Republic of China have confirmed that Bermuda can benefit from a UK/China agreement which could float the fortunes of Bermuda’s shipping registry. This was welcome news brought by the Chinese Ambassador to the UK, Liu Xiaoming, who is visiting Bermuda this week.

This matter has been coordinated on behalf of Bermuda by Government House over the last several months.

2017 Cruise Ship Season Begins

Bermuda’s first two cruise ships of 2017 arrived this morning in the West End – possibly the first time two very large, Bermuda-registered cruise ships – the Oriana and Queen Victoria - are in the Bermuda port at the same time.

Minister of Tourism, Transport and Municipalities Senator the Hon. Michael M. Fahy JP will mark the beginning of what is expected to be another highly successful cruise year by being on hand in the West End, as one ship is in for the day, and the other for an overnight stay.

Hurricane Nicole update - October 12 at 11am

Overnight Nicole became a Cat 2 hurricane, with 85 gusting 105 knots. Hurricane hunters are in the hurricane now and we are getting data to support this increased intensity forecast. Nicole has also not progressed forward as fast as they were predicting yesterday, which is not good because it means that it will spend more time in that region of above average sea surface temps and very low wind shear – all ingredients for further intensification… which is why their write ups are hinting at the possibility of Nicole reaching major hurricane (Cat3) strength prior to landfall here.
