COVID-19 Update - 18 August

Today there were 759 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and none were positive for COVID-19.

Bermuda has had 166 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:

  • 147 have recovered, and
  • there are 10 active cases, who are
  • all under active public health monitoring;
  • none is hospitalized or in critical care, and
  • the total deceased remains 9.

The average age of all of our confirmed positive cases is 58 and the age range of all of our positive cases is from 18 to 101 years.

Update on yesterday's new cases

Yesterday the Ministry of Health advised that there were four new COVID-19 cases; three imported and one under investigation. All have been isolated and contact tracing has begun.

The Bermuda Police Service issued a statement yesterday stating that two of the cases are Police Officers, one of whom does not have a recent travel history. Although these two cases are within the Police Service, to date contact tracing has not yet identified actual contact between them. Investigation continues.

COVID-19 Update - 15 August

Today there were 833 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and three were positive for COVID-19.

All three new cases were imported on the Jet Blue flight from New York on Friday 14 August. The travellers were residents who did not have pre-departure tests. Contact tracing has begun to isolate the cases and their close contacts.

Bermuda has now had 162 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:

Chief Medical Officer Appointment

Today the Ministry of Health announced that Dr. Ayoola Oyinloye will be taking over as Bermuda’s new Chief Medical Officer, following the retirement of Dr. Cheryl Peek-Ball on August 31st 2020.

The remit of the Chief Medical Officer includes health professional registration and regulation; epidemiology and surveillance; drugs control and statutory responsibilities including consultative support to government departments and, more recently, leading Bermuda’s public health response to COVID-19.

Today there were 808 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and none were positive for COVID-19.

Bermuda has had 159 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:

  • 145 have recovered, and
  • there are 5 active cases, who are
  • all under active public health monitoring;
  • none are hospitalized or in critical care, and
  • the total deceased remains at 9.

The average age of all of our confirmed positive cases is 59 and the age range of all of our positive cases is from 18 to 101 years.
