Government's Reemployment Strategy

Good day members of the media and the listening public. Thank you for your attendance. 

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of Bermudians remain unemployed with hopes to return to the workforce. As we continue to imagine the future of Bermuda, the Ministry of Labour is pleased to inform the public of Phase One plans to swiftly reintegrate affected persons into the working community. 

Ministry of Finance Update

Good afternoon.

Thank you for being here.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bermuda, the Government has taken extraordinary measures to manage this crisis appropriately. We focused on the health of our community, we were guided by science, we listened to our local experts, and we have taken vital steps to prevent the spread of the coronavirus on our Island.

COVID-19 Update - 2 September

Today there were 911 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and none were positive for COVID-19. 

Bermuda has had 172 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:

  • 157 have recovered, and
  • there are 6 active cases, who are
  • all under active public health monitoring; 
  • none is hospitalized or in critical care, and
  • the total deceased remains 9.

COVID-19 update 1st September 2020

Good Afternoon,

Today there were 734 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and none were positive for COVID-19.

Bermuda has had 172 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:

  • 157 have recovered, and
  • there are 6 active cases, who are
  • all under active public health monitoring;
  • none are hospitalized or in critical care, and
  • the total deceased remains at 9.

The average age of all of our confirmed positive cases is 57 and the age range of all of our positive cases is from 18 to 101 years.

COVID-19 Update - 31 August

Between Sunday and today there were 1,393 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and three were positive for COVID-19.

Two cases were imported by visitors. One on the Delta flight from Boston on 25th August who was detected on their Day-4 test; and the second on a private flight from the USA that arrived on 30th August. The third positive case is a resident who was a contact of a known case. All cases have been isolated and contact tracing has begun.

Today there were 881 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and none were positive for COVID-19.

Bermuda has had 168 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:

  • 151 have recovered, and
  • there are 8 active cases, who are
  • all under active public health monitoring;
  • none is hospitalized or in critical care, and
  • the total deceased remains 9.

27 August COVID-19 Update

School Reopening Updates 27 August

Good evening Bermuda:

In just over two weeks, Bermuda’s Public Schools will reopen for students on Monday, September 14. As we prepare to welcome our students back to their schools and classrooms, principals and staff are busy implementing protocols and plans for the start of the new school year. 

As a reminder, schools will reopen for all students on September 14, except for those deemed extremely clinically vulnerable; those in isolation or quarantine due to travel; and those who are sick.
