Update on the Wall Repairs - Between Lovers Lane and Highwood Lane.

The Ministry of Public Works provided an update on the continued works taking place in Paget to reinforce the wall between Lovers Lane and Highwood Lane.

First and foremost, the Ministry of Public Works wishes to thank the public for their patience as these ongoing Harbour Road works continue.

The Ministry is pleased to advise that two-lane traffic will be restored by the middle of January, following road reinforcements.

The focus of this project has been to make the road safe and secure for the public.

Harbour Road Repairs Statement from Acting Minister for Public Works Wayne Furbert

The Ministry of Public works is pleased to advise that work will resume tomorrow to complete the structural repairs to the section of Harbour Road, between Lover’s Lane and Highwood Lane. Agreements have been finalised with the area resident this week, allowing for the work to get underway.

Acting Minister for Public Works Wayne Furbert added, “I really want to thank the motoring public for their patience and understanding while the necessary talks with an area resident were completed.

Tynes Bay Update 6 December 2021

Acting Minister of Public Works Wayne Furbert today confirmed that landfilling at Marsh Folly will end following a successful weekend’s trial of the repaired Unit at Tynes Bay. The Ministers said: “The single burner, which was returned to service last week continued to operate this weekend without any mechanical issues. This news means refuse collected can now be transported to the Tynes Bay facility and not to  Marsh Folly.”   

Progress Continues at Tynes Bay Waste Facility - Update Friday Dec. 3, 2021

Earlier today, the Acting Minister of Public Works, the Hon. Wayne Furbert, JP, MP, visited the Tynes Bay Waste Treatment Facility to receive a status update on the progress being made.

Mr. Nasir Wade, Plant Manager at Tynes Bay, briefed the Minister on the single functioning burner, the clearing of the tipping hall, the repair of the baling machine and when household waste can resume being processed at the facility.

Modifications to Harbor Road Traffic Flow

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to advise motorists that as a refinement of the traffic controls for Harbour Road and to assist with morning flow, StoweHill, Paget,  will be closed with access permitted for residents only.  

In an effort to reduce traffic congestion on Middle Road, motorists are encouraged to consider travelling on Harbour Road during the morning and afternoon rush hours.

Ministry of Public Works to Conduct Biannual Septage Waste Disposal Operations

The Ministry of Public Works advises that during the week of 22 November 2021, it will conduct its Biannual Septage Waste Disposal Operations 

These operations may result in unpleasant odours being experienced in the residential areas surrounding the Marsh Folly Composting Facility. Despite this, the Ministry assures there is no environmental risk to area residents. 

Throne Speech Initiatives & Tynes Bay Waste to Energy Facility

Good afternoon.

Following the November 5th Speech from the Throne, as the Acting Minister of Public Works, I would like to provide an update on last year’s initiatives and highlight the critical status of the Tynes Bay Waste-to-Energy Facility and what this Government is doing to address it.
In the November 2020 Speech from the Throne, the Ministry of Public Works focus was on three initiatives:

1. Introducing legislation to grant leasehold interest in the St. Georges Club to the St. Regis Hotel developers;

Ministry of Public Works - Road Closure Advisory

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that the ongoing BELCO trenching project on Harrington Sound Road will be reaching the Manor House Bridge in Hamilton Parish. In order for the trench to cross under the bridge and road works to take place, the road closure will need to be extended.

This road closure will be on Harrington Sound Road from Town Hill Road to Lolly’s Well Road starting Tuesday, October 19th, 2021 to Friday November 19th, 2021.
