Coronavirus Update 6 April 2022

I am sad to report that Bermuda has had another coronavirus related death,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “I extend my condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 7112 test results, and 147 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 2.06%.

These results are from testing done on:

· Wednesday: 31 positive out of 1957 results (1.6% positivity)

· Thursday: 25 positive out of 1622 results (1.5% positivity)

Public Health Week 2022

The Department of Health invites the public to participate in virtual and in-person events during Public Health Week, 4th - 8th April 2022.

“Public Health Week features several events as part of the Government of Bermuda’s initiative to promote healthy lifestyles,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “I encourage everyone to join the Department of Health’s panel discussion and workshop, and those persons interested in a career in public health should attend the Careers Fair.”

Coronavirus Update 31 March 2022

Sadly, Bermuda has recorded another coronavirus related death since our last update,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “I extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 4104 test results, and 108 were positive for the coronavirus.

These results are from testing done on:

·Sunday: 17 positive out of 973 results (1.7% positivity)

·Monday: 57 positive out of 1613 results (3.5% positivity)

·Tuesday: 34 positive out of 1518 results (2.2% positivity)

COVID-19 vaccinations after March 31

The Ministry of Health reminds the public that the Pier 6 vaccination centre will close on March 31.After March 31, free vaccines will continue to be available at the Hamilton Health Center. The Ministry of Health will continue the fourth dose at the old Crissons Jewellers location on the ground floor of 71 Front Street, Hamilton starting Friday, April 1, from 12 noon until 5:30 pm. As there is no convenient access for wheelchairs, clients who use wheelchairs should be accommodated by their physicians, or they can attend the Hamilton Health Centre.

Coronavirus Update 28 March 2022

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 4929 test results, and 102 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 2.0%.

These results are from testing done on:

·Wednesday:  35 positive out of  1602 results (1.9% positivity)

·Thursday: 26 positive out of 1543 results (2.5% positivity)

·Friday: 17 positive out of 906 results (3.5% positivity)

·Saturday: 24 positive out of 878 results (3.7% positivity)

11 of the new cases are classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.

Updated Quarantine Policy for Schools

Following consultation with the Ministry of Health, the Minister of Education, the Hon. Diallo Rabain, JP MP, announced today (March 1, 2022), updates to the Quarantine Policy for Schools which are effective immediately.

The following updates have been made:

Vaccinated Positive Cases

-Quarantine for 7 days with test out with a certified Lateral Flow Test (LFT).

Unvaccinated Positive Cases

-Quarantine for 10 days with a test out with a certified LFT.

COVID-19 Update 21 February 2022

“Sadly, Bermuda has recorded another coronavirus death since our last update,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “My heartfelt condolences go out to the loved ones of the deceased at this difficult time.”

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 6642 test results, and 107 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 1.6%.

These results are from testing done on:

§  Wednesday:  39 positive out of 1590 results (2.5% positivity)

§  Thursday: 19 positive out of 1479 results (1.3% positivity)

Virtual Town Hall

As a follow up from Friday’s House of Assembly announcements, Premier David Burt will host a virtual Town Hall meeting tomorrow (Feb. 8), to further discuss the changes to the Public Health Emergency regulations.

The Premier will be joined by the Minister of Health, Kim Wilson and the Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, Dr. Ernest Peets.

Other topics being covered include revisions to the SafeKey policy, changes to Bermuda’s border protocols, changes to Large Group Exemptions and Return to Play protocols and the importance of supporting the island's Tourism industry.

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 4169 test results, and 128 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 3.1%.

These results are from testing done on:

§  Sunday: 29 positive out of 1184 results (2.4% positivity)

§  Monday: 57 positive out of 1575 results (3.6% positivity)
