Emotional and mental support before, during and after a hurricane

As a result of Hurricane Humberto and with the anticipation of Tropical Storm Jerry impacting the island everyone in Bermuda has been operating at a high level of anxiety for more than a week. We urge everyone to pay attention to their stress levels and those of loved ones. Some signs of stress include:

  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Limited attention span
  • Increased use of alcohol and drugs, abandoning healthy eating habits

Closure of the Warwick Health Centre

The Ministry of Health has today advised that due to the smoke damage to the Warwick Health Centre and current investigation of its cause, the Warwick Health Centre will not be open for baby clinic services tomorrow September 10th and September 15th, 2018.

The Ministry would like to apologize to the public for any inconvenience.

Clients may attend the Hamilton Health Centre, 67 Victoria Street, Hamilton,  between the hours of 2-4 while the clinic is closed.

They may call 278-6460 if they require further assistance.

Ciguatera Update

The Ministry of Health and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) wish to provide an update on the most recent outbreak of Ciguatera Fish Poisoning (CFP) and the types of fish involved, and remind members of the public about the key facts of CFP.

Measles warning

The Department of Health is encouraging everyone to ensure their vaccinations are up-to-date, especially if they have plans to travel this summer.

Due to persons being under-vaccinated or unvaccinated, measles in particular has returned to some areas of the world.
