Mpox Vaccine Interest Form is Now Available

“The Ministry of Health is considering vaccinating individuals at higher risk of Mpox exposure,” announced Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “To gauge community interest, we have created an optional survey interest form. Starting today and for the next two weeks, Bermuda residents can complete the interest form for the Mpox vaccine, JYNNEOS, by visiting https://forms.gov.bm/MPoxSurvey/

Minister of Health Post Budget 2023-24 Remarks

Good afternoon.

Today, I am pleased to provide highlights of the 2023/2024 Budget Allocation for the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry comprises four departments: the Ministry of Health Headquarters, which includes the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, the Department of Health, the Health Insurance Department and the hospitals. The Ministry of Health’s vision is to ensure healthy people in healthy communities.

Good afternoon.

As we head into the festive holiday season, we are reminding the public to take precautions to avoid catching the flu, coronavirus or Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and other respiratory viruses prevalent during colder weather.

We all want to enjoy this holiday season free and clear of any illnesses, and we especially do not want to catch and spread COVID. However, unfortunately COVID is still out there in our community.

I can advise that there is currently an increase in respiratory viruses and Covid-19 infections on the island.

Mr Speaker, Honourable Members, 32 months ago a State of Emergency was put in place in Bermuda on 1 April 2020. This followed the arrival in Bermuda of the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19 on 18 March 2022. The Government deemed it necessary to stop commercial flights to the island on 20 March, and a few days earlier, the US CDC had issued a “No Sail Order” which put an end to cruise sailings.

Coronavirus Update 16 November 2022

“Sadly, there have been two coronavirus-related deaths since our last update,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson. “I extend my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.”

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 1,064 test results and 35 were positive for the coronavirus.

Travel Authorisation Refunds Now Underway

The Ministry of Health announces that Travel Authorisation (TA) refunds began on Monday, November 14.

 Refunding will happen chronologically, starting from the 14th and working towards the 30th. The refund process is expected to take 6 – 8 weeks.

“Travellers requiring a TA refund do not need to contact the TA helpdesk and should refrain from flagging their card transactions with their bank as this can potentially slow down the refund.”
