COVID-19 Economic Advisory Committee Members Announced

HAMILTON, Bermuda, 20 May, 2020: Bermuda’s Minister of Finance, The Hon. Curtis L. Dickinson, JP MP, today announced the members of the Government’s new COVID-19 Economic Advisory Committee, which is comprised of a diverse group of 11 local and global, business and community leaders.

Minister Caines - 18 May Update

Good evening Bermuda.

Last week Friday we welcomed back returning residents on the Delta Airlines charter flight. One of the challenges that we had noticed from prior arrangements at the quarantine facility was that individuals were confined to their rooms for 24-hours a day. In an effort to make their stay more balanced and holistic the Ministry of National Security implemented a twice a week physical activity routine for the residents in the facility.  

COVID-19 Update from the Ministry of Health - May 16

Today there were 82 test results received by the Ministry of Health; and none were positive for COVID-19.

Bermuda has 123 total confirmed positive cases. Their updated status is as follows:

*  there are 41 active cases, of which

*  35 persons are under active public health monitoring, and

*  6 persons are hospitalized; of which

*  2 are in critical care;

*  73 have now recovered, and

*  the total deceased is 9.

Good Afternoon Bermuda. Since the announcement of the end of Shelter in Place and the confirmation that we will adopt a phased approach to our reopening of our economy, there has been much speculation around when we as a country will move to phase two, and what that will look like.

Good Afternoon,

Today there were 244 test results received by the Ministry of Health; and 1 was positive for COVID-19.

As I indicated in a press release yesterday, Bermuda has regrettably lost another victim to COVID-19. My sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of that individual at this difficult time.

Bermuda now has 123 total confirmed positive cases. Their status is as follows:

14 May COVID-19 Update

Today there were 45 test results received by the Ministry of Health, and one was positive for COVID-19. Sadly, however, COVID has claimed another casualty and Bermuda has lost another life to this terrible disease. Today’s positive case is also the individual who passed away.

The Ministry of Education is advising parents and students to avoid a misleading and false advertisement that is circulating on social media and What's App. The advertisement claim is for an offer of free laptops for youth by the Government. The message contains a link to a hoax website. At a glance, this hoax message looks genuine. This one is particular is appealing to parents and families looking for free laptops for students.
