Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport is responsible for preserving Bermuda’s cultural heritage and promoting amateur sports. Our mission is to celebrate and safeguard our culture and heritage, as well as to create and assist programs for athletes and tourism-related activities. What do they do?

Our mission is to connect tourism, culture, and sport to you. Culture and sport are crucial as they improve quality of life, promote a sense of community, and enhance wellbeing. Tourism is also essential as it creates jobs, strengthens the economy, and fosters cultural exchange between tourists and locals.

Our responsibilities include

  1. Preserving and celebrating our culture
  2. Supporting and aiding cultural and sporting activities
  3. Curating cultural festivals
  4. Offering developmental programs for creatives
  5. Assisting National Sports Governing Bodies
  6. Managing sports and island camping facilities
  7. Operating summer day camps
  8. Managing the culture and entertainment support fund
  9. Promoting, progressing, and managing tourism investment orders
  10. Collecting vacation rental fees and issuing vacation rental licenses
  11. Inspecting hotels and issuing hotel licenses.

Your Role

  1. Respect recreation sites and facilities
  2. Participate in sports
  3. Engage in cultural heritage programme
  4. Take part in cultural festivals
  5. Attend cultural and sports tourism entertainment events

The Ministry consists of three departments and two Government QUANGOS.

Leads on policies aimed at enhancing tourism and enriching the lives of the people of Bermuda.

Department of Sport and Recreation

Delivers sport and recreation services and celebrates the accomplishments of our people.

Department of Culture

Develops our creatives, preserves our heritage, and celebrates our people.

QUANGOS

Bermuda National Sports Centre

Provides internationally certified facilities for recreation, sports training, competition, and entertainment.

Bermuda Sport Anti-Doping Authority

Prevents, detects, and deters the use of illicit drugs and banned practices in Bermuda’s sporting community.

The Ministry appoints 6 Boards related to tourism, arts, culture and sports and provides advice to the Minister.
