An Update on Moving Beyond the Pandemic

Mr. Speaker, when this Honourable House rose on 23rd July, the country eagerly anticipated Cup Match, witnessing the annual classic and enjoying this summer highlight with family and friends. We did that, Mr. Speaker, and we did so safely. The strict enforcement of practices adopted to keep us safe showed that we could adjust our lives to live with COVID-19 and enjoy different versions of traditional events and celebrations. 

COVID-19 Update 24 August 2021

The Ministry of Health received 9972 test results since the last update, and 42 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 0.4%. 

These results are from testing done on:

·Thursday, August 19: 16 positive out of 2931 results (0.5% positivity)

·Friday, August 20: 15 positive out of 2906 results (0.5% positivity)

·Saturday, August 21: 9 positive out of 2375 results (0.4% positivity)

·Sunday, August 22: 2 positive out of 1760 results (0.1% positivity)

COVID-19 Update - Minister of Health's Remarks 13 May 2021

Unfortunately, I begin my remarks today with the sad news that Bermuda has recorded another death of someone who was Covid positive. My deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and friends.

On behalf of the Government of Bermuda, I am sorry for your loss. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

The Ministry of Health received 1155 test results since the last update, and one (1) was positive for coronavirus. This gives a test positivity rate of 0.1%. 

COVID-19 Daily Release 8 April 2021

The Ministry of Health received 1587 test results since the last update and 71 were positive for COVID-19, yielding a test positivity rate of 4.5%

Three of the new cases are classified as imported:

·         One non-resident who arrived on Jet Blue B62879 from Boston on 6 April 2021 and tested positive on their arrival test; and

·         Two residents who arrived on British Airways BA 159 from London on 6 April 2021 and tested positive on their arrival test.

COVID-19 Update Premier’s Remarks 6 April 2021

Good evening Bermuda.

I begin by offering my deepest condolences on behalf of the Government and people of Bermuda to the families of the two people who, as announced by the Minister of Health over the weekend, are the latest in our community to have succumbed to the coronavirus. 

This is a harsh reminder that this virus can be fatal, and that we must do all that we can to protect ourselves and one another.

COVID-19 Update Minister of Health’s Remarks 23 March 2021

Good afternoon.

The Ministry of Health received 866 test results since the last update, and ten were positive for COVID-19. One of the new cases is classified as imported by a resident who arrived on Delta Airlines DL617 from New York on 7 March 2021 and tested positive on their Day 14 test. Six of the new cases are classified as local transmission with known contact as they are associated with known cases.

Good day. 

The Ministry of Health received 629 test results since the last update, and seven (7) were positive for COVID-19. Five (5) of the new cases are classified as local transmission with known contact as they are associated with known cases. The additional (2) new cases are classified as under investigation. These cases are among residents with no currently identified link to other known cases or history of travel in the past 14 days.

Additionally, since the last update, there were four (4) recoveries.
