Coronavirus Update 17 March 2022 Minister of Health’s Remarks

Good afternoon.

Sadly, I begin my remarks today by reporting that since our update on Monday, Bermuda has had another COVID-19 related death.

I extend sincere condolences to the family and friends who recently lost a loved one in the circumstances related to this coronavirus. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

As I have said repeatedly, the pandemic is not over, and the omicron variant continues to circulate throughout our community. Our positive cases are increasing, and it is important to note that new cases are outpacing our recoveries.

Coronavirus Update – March 17 2022

“Sadly, Bermuda has had another COVID-19 related death,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “I extend sincere condolences to the family and friends who recently lost a loved one in the circumstances related to this coronavirus. You are in our thoughts and prayers.”

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 3264 test results, and 105 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 3.2%.

These results are from testing done on:

§  Sunday: 14 positive out of 460 results (3.0% positivity)

Coronavirus Update 14 March 2022

“Bermuda is recording another coronavirus related death today,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased.”

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 4740 test results, and 139 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 2.9%.

These results are from testing done on:

§  Wednesday:  49 positive out of  1653 results (3.0% positivity)

§  Thursday: 36 positive out of 1444 results (2.5% positivity)

Coronavirus Update 10 March 2022

“Sadly, we have had another coronavirus related death in Bermuda,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “I extend my condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased.”

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 3772 test results, and 107 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 2.8%.

COVID-19 Update 7 March 2022

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 6588 test results, and 109 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 1.6%.

These results are from testing done on:

§  Wednesday:  25 positive out of 2167 results (1.2% positivity)

§  Thursday: 28 positive out of 2031 results (1.4% positivity)

§  Friday: 32 positive out of 1284 results (2.5% positivity)

§  Saturday: 24 positive out of 1106 results (2.2% positivity)

13 of the new cases are classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.

COVID-19 Update 3 March 2022

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 4860 test results, and 73 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 1.5%.

These results are from testing done on:

§  Sunday: 9 positive out of 955 results (0.9% positivity)

§  Monday: 34 positive out of 2033 results (1.7% positivity)

§  Tuesday: 30 positive out of 1872 results (1.6% positivity)

6 of the new cases are classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.

COVID-19 Update 28 February 2022

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 5366 test results, and 71 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 1.3%.

These results are from testing done on:

·Wednesday:  23 positive out of 1487 results (1.5% positivity)

·Thursday: 14 positive out of 1523 results (0.9% positivity)

·Friday: 24 positive out of 1360 results (1.8% positivity)

·Saturday: 10 positive out of 996 results (1.0% positivity)

24 of the new cases are classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.

COVID-19 Update 24 February 2022

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 7351 test results, and 67 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 0.9%.

 

These results are from testing done on:

§  Sunday: 14 positive out of 2361 results (0.6% positivity)

§  Monday: 29 positive out of 2499 results (1.2% positivity)

§  Tuesday: 24 positive out of 2491 results (1.0% positivity)

10 of the new cases are classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.

False email message titled “PCR TEST RESULT: POSITIVE.”

 The Ministry of Health advises the public of a false email message titled “PCR TEST RESULT: POSITIVE.”

Any official email for anyone who has tested positive will contain the name of the person tested, Test ID number and the date they were tested. Additionally, emails to persons who have tested positive do not contain a link. 

The false email doesn’t contain specific details, and if you click the link included in the email, you could put your computer/phone security at risk or unwittingly give up personal details.  

COVID-19 Update 21 February 2022

“Sadly, Bermuda has recorded another coronavirus death since our last update,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “My heartfelt condolences go out to the loved ones of the deceased at this difficult time.”

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 6642 test results, and 107 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 1.6%.

These results are from testing done on:

§  Wednesday:  39 positive out of 1590 results (2.5% positivity)

§  Thursday: 19 positive out of 1479 results (1.3% positivity)
