COVID-19 Press Statement by Minister Wilson

Good Afternoon,

Thank you, Premier.

I want to begin my remarks today by reminding everyone that the future health of Bermuda is in our hands. While we cannot fully predict what will happen regarding transmission in our community, our actions today will determine whether we succeed or fail in our fight against COVID-19.

Before saying more about what we can all do in our collective fight against COVID-19, I will present today’s update on testing results.

COVID-19 - Fiscal Plan

Initially, I wish to offer my condolences to the families of those who have lost loved ones to this pandemic. I would also like to thank all of our front line workers who are out there daily, working hard, battling this pandemic, providing vital services; protecting our health and well-being, and keeping our island functioning. We are grateful for your dedication and commitment and especially your bravery.

Ministry of Health - COVID-19 Update

Good Day Members of the Media,

Please find the below statement from the Minister of Health the Hon. Kim Wilson JP MP regarding COVID-19.

"Between Good Friday and today, Saturday 11th April, the Ministry received 47 new test results; 45 were negative, and two were positive. Of the two new positives, one was an imported case and one was a contact of a previously confirmed case. We count our blessings that there have been no further COVID-19 related deaths.

Minister Caines - April 8 Update

This evening the Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne M. Caines, JP, MP, provided an update during the daily COVID-19 press briefing.

The Minister discussed matters to do with the Joint Community Advisory Check Points, operations at the Department of Correction facilities, the Government shelter, the Government Quarantine locations and restricted guidelines regarding kite flying on Good Friday.

8 April COVID-19 Update

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the media.

I will give the latest test results received concerning COVID-19, reiterate the serious ramifications of not taking the Shelter in Place order seriously as a result of new modeling information which has come to the Government and provide an overview of the flights that have landed in Bermuda this week. The Minister of National Security will provide an update on items surrounding our Shelter in Place order and other specifics which are necessary to relay to members of the public.
