COVID-19 Daily Release 12 April 2021

The public is advised that were 1,279 test results received by the Ministry of Health since the last update, and 21 were positive for COVID-19.

This gives a test positivity rate of 1.6%.

One (1) of the new cases is classified as imported with details as follows:

• One (1) resident who arrived on Delta Airlines DL 584 from Atlanta on 27 March 2021 and tested positive on their Day 14 test.

• 11 of the new cases are classified as local transmission with known contact as associated with known cases.

COVID-19 Update - Premier's Remarks 11 April 2021

Good evening, Bermuda,

I sadly begin tonight by again offering my deepest condolences to the families of the two individuals who have lost their lives to the coronavirus this weekend. Each person lost is a cruel reminder of the severity of this virus.

We have now lost 16 people and while we report them as numbers here, to their families they are not just numbers, but people who leave behind loved ones and friends.

COVID-19 Update 10 April 2021

The Ministry of Health today confirmed that Bermuda has experienced two coronavirus related deaths. This brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Bermuda to 16.

The Minister of Health, the Hon. Kim Wilson, JP, MP stated, “I extend my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the individuals who have passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. The Ministry will not release personal details about the individuals and I ask the public to respect the privacy of the families as they mourn their loved ones.”

 

 

COVID-19 Daily Release 8 April 2021

The Ministry of Health received 1587 test results since the last update and 71 were positive for COVID-19, yielding a test positivity rate of 4.5%

Three of the new cases are classified as imported:

·         One non-resident who arrived on Jet Blue B62879 from Boston on 6 April 2021 and tested positive on their arrival test; and

·         Two residents who arrived on British Airways BA 159 from London on 6 April 2021 and tested positive on their arrival test.

Update on COVID-19 Impact on Learning in Schools

Good evening Bermuda. Thank you for joining us. 

This evening I will provide a detailed update for what is to take place for schools, after the Easter Break.

On March 23rd I announced that the Easter Break for our public schools would commence on Monday, March 29th, instead of Monday, April 5th. I also shared that the last day of Term 2 for students would be Friday, March 26th and students would return to school as normal on Monday, April 12th. 

COVID-19 Update Minister of Health’s Remarks 6 April 2021

Thank you Premier. Good afternoon.

I echo the comments of the Premier and extend sincere condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones this past weekend.

I will now provide an update on COVID-19.

There were 731 test results received by the Ministry of Health since the last update and 28 were positive for COVID-19. This gives a test positivity rate of 3.8%.

Good evening Bermuda.

I begin by offering my deepest condolences on behalf of the Government and people of Bermuda to the families of the two people who, as announced by the Minister of Health over the weekend, are the latest in our community to have succumbed to the coronavirus. 

This is a harsh reminder that this virus can be fatal, and that we must do all that we can to protect ourselves and one another.

COVID-19 Daily Release 5 April 2021

There were 3,234 test results received by the Ministry of Health since the last update and 69 were positive for COVID-19, yielding a positivity rate of 2.1%. 

33 of the new cases are classified as local transmission with known contact as associated with known cases. The additional 36 new cases are classified as under investigation. These cases are among residents with no currently identified link to other known cases or history of travel in the past 14 days.

Since the last update, there were 41 recoveries and two deaths.
