COVID-19 Daily Release 19 March 2021

Good day. 

The Ministry of Health received 758 test results since the last update, and six (6) were positive for COVID-19. All six (6) of the new cases are classified as local transmission with known contact as they are associated with known cases.

Additionally, since the last update, there were two (2) recoveries.

There are currently 52 active cases, of which;

·          All 52 are under public health monitoring and;

Ministerial Statement: Reminder on the Public Health (COVID-19 Emergency Powers) Regulations 2021

Mr. Speaker, I rise this morning to provide to this Honorable House and the public with a reminder of the legal measures of the Public Health (COVID-19 Emergency Powers) Regulations2021, which have been enacted, and from time to time amended,in an effort to prevent another surge in COVID-19 positive cases in Bermuda. 

Ministry of Education: Potential COVID Exposure at Devonshire Preschool

 Ministry of Health’s Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (ESU) is aware of a potential COVID-19 exposure at Devonshire Preschool. The person confirmed with COVID-19 has been isolated. The ESU is contacting confirmed close contacts. These person(s) are being advised that they must quarantine (stay home from school and other activities) and get tested for COVID-19. 

A full assessment will be completed and additional communication will be provided, outlining further public health guidelines that must be followed, such as quarantine and testing.

COVID-19 Daily Release 17 March 2021

Good day. 

The Ministry of Health received 629 test results since the last update, and seven (7) were positive for COVID-19. Five (5) of the new cases are classified as local transmission with known contact as they are associated with known cases. The additional (2) new cases are classified as under investigation. These cases are among residents with no currently identified link to other known cases or history of travel in the past 14 days.

Additionally, since the last update, there were four (4) recoveries.

COVID-19 Update Premier’s Remarks 16 March 2021

Good Evening Bermuda,

I am joined tonight by the Minister of Health, the Hon. Kim Wilson who will provide an update on the latest vaccination statistics, Covid-19 testing results and provide details on measures being put into place to address the current outbreak in Bermuda. 

Following that, I will provide you with an update on the extension of COVID-19 regulations, which have been agreed by the Cabinet today, and touch on matters related to tourism and our economy. 

Ministry of Education: Potential COVID Exposure at Whitney Institute

The Ministry of Health’s Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (ESU) is aware of COVID-19 exposure at Whitney Institute Middle School. The persons confirmed with COVID-19 have been isolated.

Additionally, the ESU is contacting confirmed close contacts, and those persons are being advised that they must quarantine (stay home from school and other activities) and get tested for COVID-19.

The assessment of this situation is ongoing and additional communication will be provided, outlining further public health guidelines that must be followed, such as quarantine and testing.

COVID-19 Update Minister of Health’s Remarks 16 March 2021

Good afternoon.

There were 440 test results received by the Ministry of Health since the last update, and two were positive for COVID-19. These two (2) new cases are classified as local transmission with known contact as they are associated with known cases.

Additionally, since the last update, there was one (1) recovery.

There are currently 30 active cases, of which;

·         All 30 are under public health monitoring and;

·         None are in the hospital.

Ministry of Education: Northlands Primary COVID Exposure

Yesterday, the Ministry of Health’s Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (ESU) identified a potential COVID-19 exposure at Northlands Primary School.  Based on the risk assessment, the Department of Health has been in direct contact with affected persons at Northlands Primary School.  Only those persons contacted are required to quarantine.  After the ESU risk assessment, it was concluded that Northlands Primary School open today.

Ministry of Education on Recent Dellwood Middle School COVID Exposure

Earlier this weekend, the Ministry of Health’s Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (ESU) identified a potential COVID-19 exposure at Dellwood Middle School.  After conducting a risk assessment, the ESU has concluded that with all precautions (disinfecting and deep cleaning of areas impacted) having been put in place on the campus, Dellwood Middle School will open on Monday, March 15th, 2021.
