COVID-19 Update 29 November 2021

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 6804 test results, and 18 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 0.3%.

These results are from testing done on:

·Wednesday: 6 positive out of 1869 results (0.3% positivity)

·Thursday: 1 positive out of 1798 results (0.1% positivity)

·Friday: 3 positive out of 1776 results (0.2% positivity)

·Saturday: 8 positive out of 1361 results (0.6% positivity)

14 of the new cases is classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.

COVID-19 Briefing Premier's Remarks 26 November 2021

Good Afternoon Members of the Media and the people of Bermuda,

Today I am joined by the Minister of Health, the Hon. Kim Wilson and the Minister of Education, the Hon. Diallo Rabain, as we elaborate on the statements made in the House of Assembly today regarding the updates to COVID-19 public health regulations, schools moving to Phase 2, and items pertaining to our borders and tourism.

We will soon hear from the Minister of Health on the updates to the public health regulations, followed by the Minister of Education regarding schools.

Update on the Management of COVID-19

Mr Speaker, Honourable Members,

This time last year, I provided this House with an update on COVID-19 public health guidance. At the time, we had about 270 confirmed positive cases and one or two people in hospital. That was the beginning of our second wave.

As I speak to you today, with our fourth wave dwindling, we have had 5730 confirmed cases of COVID-19, more than 300 hospitalisations and, sadly, 106 COVID-10 related deaths in the community.

COVID-19 Update 25 November 2021

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 4528 test results, and six were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 0.1%.

These results are from testing done on:

·Sunday: 3 positive out of 1592 results (0.2% positivity)

·Monday: 0 positive out of 1679 results (0.0% positivity)

·Tuesday: 3 positive out of 1257 results (0.2% positivity)

Three of the new cases are classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.

COVID-19 Update 22 November 2021

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 5,606 test results and 9 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 0.2%. 

These results are from testing done on:

  • Thursday: 8 positive out of 2,192 results (0.4% positivity)
  • Friday: 0 positive out of 1,985 results (0.0% positivity)
  • Saturday: 1 positive out of 1,429 results (0.1% positivity)

Six (6) of the new cases are classified as imported with history of travel in the previous 14 days.

Premier meets UK Overseas Territories Minister

At the conclusion of the Joint Ministerial Council in London between the UK Government and elected Representatives of the Governments of the Overseas Territories, the Premier of Bermuda, the Hon. E. David Burt, JP, MP, held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of State for the Overseas Territories the Hon. Amanda Milling MP (photo attached).

Premier Burt said: “This is an important opportunity to raise key issues with the UK Government on behalf of Bermuda.”

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 2,974 test results, and 1 was positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 0.1%.

These results are from testing done on:

•       Tuesday: 1 positive out of 1,378 results (0.1% positivity)

•       Wednesday: 0 positive out of 1,596 results (0.0% positivity)

The one (1) new case is classified as imported with history of travel in the previous 14 days.

COVID-19 Update 17 November 2021

Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 3195 test results, and 1 was positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 0.1%.

These results are from testing done on:

·Sunday: 0 positive out of 1577 results (0.0% positivity)

·Monday: 1 positive out of 1618 results (0.1% positivity)

The 1 new case is classified as local transmission. 

Additionally, since the last update, there have been 12 recoveries and 0 deaths.

There are 38 active cases, of which:
