Effective January 8, 2025, the Ministry of Economy and Labour advises the public that the Bermuda Immigration and Protection (Prohibition of Entry) Order 2024 has been revoked and replaced with the Bermuda Immigration and Protection (Prohibition of Entry) Order 2025 (attached).

Nationals of the countries provided in the Schedule below are prohibited from entering Bermuda unless one of the following apply:

The Ministry of Economy and Labour is pleased to announce of the restoration of the Country Authority Code in the Bermuda passports.

The Ministry confirmed that effective April 30, 2024, the country code will change from GBR to BMU.

Earlier today (April 16), during a special Handover Ceremony in Montreal Canada, which was hosted by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the return of the BMU code became official.

The Montreal event was attended by Her Excellency the Governor, Rena Lalgie and the Premier, the Hon. E. David Burt JP, MP.

The Premier, Hon. E. David Burt, JP, MP, will travel today to Montreal, Canada, to the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), where he will take part in a ceremony that will confirm the reinstatement of the BMU code to Bermuda’s British Overseas Territories Citizens (BOTC) passports.

The Department of Immigration (DOI) is pleased to advise employers and work permit holders that following the cyber-attack on September 20, 2023, the backlog of work permit applications awaiting decisions has been addressed. 

The Ministry of Economy and Labour (the "Ministry") takes this opportunity to provide information to the general public on the implementation of the UK's Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) scheme. 

The Department of Immigration wishes to advise the public, especially guests of Bermuda, that the policy, which restricts the Allowed Length of Stay (ALOS) for those visiting the island to 180 days in any 12-month period, will come into effect on January 15, 2024. 

The Ministry of Economy and Labour is pleased to advise that the Department of Immigration (DOI) has resumed processing passport applications.

Unfortunately, there were over 450 outstanding passport applications that were in process just before the recent cyber-attack, which prevented system access and the complete processing of these applications. While the systems were down, passport applications could not be processed.  

Bermuda welcomes eligible persons to make expressions of interest in the Economic Investment Certificate & the Residential Certificate Program.  The certificate encourages and enables high net worth individuals to make substantial economic investments into Bermuda.

The Economic Investment Certificate and the Residential Certificate policy is designed to stimulate economic activity, create the environment for job creation, and help market Bermuda as a place to reside and do business.
