Ministry of Public Works Service Advisory

Due to the impact of COVID-19 to Bermuda, the Ministry of Public Works advises the public on the operational status of departmental services.

All essential services within the Department of Works and Engineering are operating as per normal and the public will experience no change in service levels. This includes garbage collection and public access to the Tynes Bay Waste to Energy Facility,

As for the Department of Parks, effective immediately and until 6 April 2020, the department will operate in a limited capacity.

Premier David Burt statement COVID-19 update (18 March 2020)

Good evening.

Following the announcement I made earlier this evening of two confirmed cases of imported COVID-19 to Bermuda, the Covid-19 EMO was embodied at 7pm and the following decisions were made:

The LF Wade international airport will close for incoming passenger flights on Friday, March 20 at 11:59PM for the next two weeks. Non-residents will not be landed on the island from tomorrow. Only returning residents will be allowed on flights to Bermuda between tomorrow morning and Friday night. Cargo flights will not be affected. 

Bermuda Confirms First Two Cases of COVID-19

Good Evening,

We have called this press conference today to inform you that just two hours ago, the first diagnosed cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Bermuda.

The Government of Bermuda understands that this news will leave many residents concerned; and with questions. We understand these concerns and want to reassure you that we are taking this development extremely seriously.

Department of Education: Letter to Public School Parents

The Department of Education issued the following letter to parents regarding steps currently being undertaken in Bermuda’s Public Schools to help the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Acting Commissioner of Education, Dr. Llewellyn Simmons stated: “I would like to assure you that the safety, health and well-being of our students, staff and public school families, is our top priority.
