The Department of Public Transportation (DPT) is pleased to advise the public that the bus service will resume daily operations tomorrow (17 December).
The Ministry of Health undertook a risk assessment and is satisfied with the workplace protocols in place at DPT.
This confirmation and the enhanced department protocols allow for a safe return of the public bus service.
The requirements for physical distancing, hygiene, and mask-wearing will continue onboard buses and at Central Terminal. The riding public is asked to refrain from using the bus service unless it is essential.
Before boarding, passengers are reminded of the following:
- Do not travel if you are unwell or displaying flu-like symptoms such as a fever, cough or sneezing.
- Wear your face mask at all times; individuals without will not be permitted to ride.
- Sanitize your hands on entry.
- Adhere to the physical distancing signage when choosing your seat.
- Reduce conversations; if you must converse with the bus operator, do so at the door.
- Healthcare workers must not wear their medical uniform on the bus.
- Natural ventilation is best. Weather permitting, please keep windows open at all times.
I must thank and recognize the collaborative efforts of the DPT, Ministry of Health, and the unions, who worked together to ensure we could safely resume the bus service for the people of Bermuda.”, said the Minister of Transport the Hon. Lawrence Scott, JP, MP, “I also take this opportunity to thank the public for their patience and understanding as we went about our duties to protect our island from COVID-19.”
