The Department of Energy has published a new survey today, the ‘Solar Energy Survey’, and are seeking responses from the public.
The online survey, www.bit.ly/solar_energy_survey can be completed in about five to seven minutes, at leisure on any device by anyone 18 and older. Only one response is needed per household.
The purpose of the survey is to gather important information about the adoption of solar energy in Bermuda.
The Minister of Home Affairs, Deputy Premier, the Hon. Walter Roban, JP, MP, shared, “Bermuda, we welcome and encourage you to take part in this survey, as this data is being gathered in order to better inform the Department on how to best target upcoming measures to increase access to solar technologies and future energy conservation initiatives.”
“Among these initiatives will be an energy fund that aims to increase the public’s access to energy independence through solar energy. However, in order to ensure that these initiatives meet the public’s needs, we first need your help in understanding where the barriers are that are preventing access.”
“We seek to receive all responses by the 6th of August, so that plans can be finalised for our new initiatives.”
Minister Roban concluded, “Currently, between businesses and homeowners Bermuda has around 6.5 MW of installed distributed solar PV capacity. These are clean, green electrons that we all benefit from as solar energy helps to lower our fuel costs as long as Bermuda maintains any reliance on imported fossil fuels.”
“Increasing the adoption of solar technologies will move us in the right direction, toward a long-term goal of energy independence.”
