Energy

The Department's core work includes:

1. lowering Bermuda's dependence on imported fossil fuels while balancing energy security, sustainability, and affordability;
2. guiding residents and industry through education and advice on energy and telecommunications policy; supporting the growth of Bermuda's space, satellite, telecommunications, and energy infrastructure;
3. and administering broadcasting and telecommunications licensing, including inspections, fee collection, and oversight of the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commissions.

Current initiatives include the LED Initiative, which distributes energy-efficient light bulbs to households across Bermuda, alongside public outreach programmes and periodic reviews of national energy policy such as the National Electricity Sector Policy.
