COVID-19 Daily Release 14 May 2021

The Ministry of Health received 946 test results since the last update, and four were positive for coronavirus, yielding a test positivity rate of 0.4 %. 

Three of the new cases are classified as local transmission with known contact as they are associated with known cases.

The additional new case is classified as under investigation. This case is a resident with no currently identified link to other known cases or history of travel in the past 14 days.

Additionally, since the last update, there were 16 recoveries and no deaths.

There are 184 active cases, of which:

·         177 are under public health monitoring and

·         7 are in hospital, with 2 in intensive care; 

Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 2466 confirmed cases of coronavirus, out of which a total of 2250 have recovered, and sadly 32 COVID related deaths.

The source of all cases is as follows:

·         298 are Imported

·         1990 are classified as local transmission of which:

o   1579 are Local transmission with known contact/source and 

o    411 are Local transmission with an unknown contact/source

·         178 are Under Investigation

As investigations proceed, transmission categories may change.

The seven-day average of our real-time reproduction number is 0.63.

Bermuda’s current WHO country status remains “Community Transmission”.

“The Close to Home mobile vaccination programme will be at Victor Scott Primary School, Glebe Road, on Sunday, May 16, from 10 am – 2 pm,” said Kim Wilson, JP, MP, Minister of Health. “There will be healthcare professionals on site to answer any questions that people may have.”

“A mini-bus service will be available to take people from their homes to the mobile vaccination sites and back to their homes after. Anyone wanting to use the service should call 533-5903 between 10 am and 1:30 pm.”

“As well, the vaccination team plan to go out again tomorrow morning to vaccinate those who have requested home visits in the east of the island from St David’s to Devonshire.”

“Anyone who feels they need a home visit for the COVID-19 vaccine, please contact  the Hotline at 444-2498 and select Option #2, or email vaccine@gov.bm, and the team will arrange a visit in the coming weeks.”

“Please remember that the vaccine is free to everyone.”
