About the Programme
Youth Mental Health Training Programme is a three‑day professional development initiative offered by the Ministry of Health, Department of Health.
Its purpose is to equip adults who work with adolescents with the knowledge and confidence to support young people experiencing mental health challenges.
What You’ll Learn
This course blends practical skills with foundational knowledge. Participants will explore:
Core Skills
- Identifying early signs of mental health concerns in adolescents
- Providing safe, appropriate initial support
- Knowing when and how to refer a young person for professional help
- Maintaining your own wellbeing while supporting others
Knowledge Areas
- Adolescent brain development
- Local mental health resources and referral pathways
- Anti‑stigma strategies and youth‑friendly communication
- Collaborative brainstorming for stigma‑reduction in your organization
Training Structure
The programme is 3 days:
Day 1 & Day 2 — Youth Mental Health Workshop
- Two full days (7 hours each)
- Offered virtually or in person
- Highly interactive, skills‑based learning
Day 3 — Brain Development, Anti‑Stigma & Referral Process
- Half‑day session
- In‑person only
- Deep dive into adolescent development and Bermuda’s referral system
