Waste Collection - Hurricane Nicole

The Ministry of Public Works, Waste Management Section, is advising the public that it is working until 6pm today to collect waste in the east end. Should your household waste not be collected by 6pm today, please secure it for the duration of the storm.

West end garbage should not be placed out for collection until the Ministry makes further announcements about resumption of collection services.

All recycling services have been suspended for this week and are rescheduled for next Thursday in the west end and Friday in the east.

Roads permitting, crews may resume normal waste collections on Monday. The Ministry will make further announcements as soon as possible.

A Ministry spokesperson stated, “It is important to not only secure valuables, but also to secure waste items as these can become hazards during the storm and can add to the clean-up post-hurricane.”

As an additional storm-related notice, the public is advised by the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs that the Seniors Seminar Mosaic Performance scheduled to take place this Thursday at The Centre has been postponed.
