CONEY ISLAND TO FRACTIOUS STREET
HAMILTON PARISH

FOR
BELCO TRENCH WORK
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd, 2020 THROUGH WEDNESDAY, MARCH 31st, 2021
The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that Coney Island Road to Railway Trail to pedestrian bridge, down ramp to North Shore Road and Fractious Street to BELCO substation will undergo trench work that will require a one-lane closure and trail closure.
The trench work will mostly affect Coney Island Road from bridge behind Baileys’ Bay Cricket Club to railway trail. Then down railway trail to Bailey’s Bay footbridge, down the ramp into North Shore Road eastbound lane traffic to Fractious Street. Trench work and closures will be in 200’ section lengths at a time.
This lane closure will commence Monday, November 2nd, 2020 to Wednesday March 31st, 2021. Working hours will be from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, weekly Monday through Sunday.
The public is asked to avoid these lane closure sections and to use alternative routes via Ducks Puddle Drive & North Shore Road for the duration of this trench work. Due to the wide and long open trench works, sections of the railway trail and road will be completely closed for the 200’ sections.
Traffic controls will be under the direction of BELCO, Island Construction and Works & Engineering representatives, and will be managed through traffic control signals; and directional signs during rush hours.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to cautiously pass these wide construction areas and avoid speeding/running to protect themselves & construction workers on site.
The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the public and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result.
Should there be any questions regarding these works, please direct queries to the attention of Mr. Jonathan Pedro, Project Manager for BELCO at 295-5111 ext. 1441 and for traffic control queries to the attention of Tina Beer-Searle, Civil Engineer Highways at 501-3044.
