MINISTRY OF PUBLIC WORKS
ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1947
HARRINGTON SOUND ROAD
HAMILTON PARISH
EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE FOR
BELCO TRENCH WORK - PHASE II
MONDAY 30TH, 2021 – SUNDAY OCTOBER 31ST, 2021
The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that the ongoing Harrington Sound Road trenching project in Hamilton Parish will require a full road closure to commence with trenching towards the bus layby near Middle Road junction. Currently the trench alignment is located east of Crest View Road and its alignment encroaches on top of the road’s yellow centerline. With the heavy speeding traffic and the soft soil pockets along trench edges this has become a health & safety issue for the contractor’s crew and closure had to be decided.
This road closure will be on Harrington Sound Road between Middle Road and Harrington Hundreds Road and will be in effect day-and-night until the trench work has been completed, backfilled and paved.
Access exceptions will be granted for those seeking access to residential units and commercial properties. Access cannot be granted to buses and heavy trucks.
Motorists are asked to avoid this road closure section and to use alternative routes via North Shore Road and South Road. Detour signs will be placed to indicate detour routes.
Traffic controls will be under the direction of BELCO (Invisible Trenching contractor) and will be managed through traffic control signals and detour signs.
The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the public and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result.
Should there be any questions regarding this road closure, please direct queries to the attention of Tina Beer-Searle, Acting Principal Highways Engineer for Ministry of Public Works on 501-3044.
By Order:
The Hon. Jason P. Hayward, JP, MP
Acting Minister of Public Works
