EMERGENCY POWERS (COVID-19 SHELTER IN PLACE) REGULATIONS 2020

EXTENSION OF DURATION (No 2) NOTICE

 

WHEREAS a proclamation was issued on 1 April 2020 under section 14(3) of the Constitution declaring that a state of emergency exists in Bermuda, which proclamation was extended in force until 18 April 2020 pursuant to a resolution of both Houses of the Legislature on 6 April 2020, in accordance with sections 14(5) and (6) of the Constitution,

AND WHEREAS the Emergency Powers (COVID-19 Shelter in Place) Regulations 2020 (“the Regulations”) came into effect at 6am on 4 April, and were extended in force until at 6am on 18 April 2020 in accordance with section 2(2) of the Emergency Powers Act 1963 and regulation 18(2) and (3) of those Regulations, pursuant to a resolution of both Houses of the Legislature which was communicated by message to the Governor on 6 April 2020, and the Extension of Duration Notice published on that date in the Official Gazette as GN 371/2020;

AND WHEREAS, in accordance with section 14(6) of the Constitution and regulation 18(2) of the Regulations, the House of Assembly and Senate further resolved on 17April 2020 to extend the proclamation of emergency until 6am on 30 June 2020, and the duration of the Regulations until 6am on 2 May 2020, and communicated that fact by message to the Governor;

NOW THEREFORE, in accordance with regulation 18(3) of the Regulations, this Notice confirms that the Regulations shall continue in effect until 6am on 2 May 2020.
