PUBLIC HEALTH (COVID-19) NOTICE

  1. Powers Authorizing Issue of Notice

This Notice is issued by the Chief Medical Officer pursuant to section 69 of the Public Health Act and the Public Health (COVID-19) Regulations 2020.

  1. Public Health Supervision Order

Pursuant to regulation 7 of the Public Health (COVID-19) Regulations 2020, each person arriving in Bermuda on the flights listed under paragraph 6 below, or on a private jet arriving in Bermuda, is determined by the Chief Medical Officer to have been at risk of exposure to COVID-19 and shall be subject to public health supervision for 14 days from the date of arrival in Bermuda as directed by a Public Health Officer.

  1. Requirements for public health supervision

Pursuant to regulation 8(1)(a) of the Public Health (COVI-19) Regulations 2020, each person to whom this Order applies shall conduct public health supervision by—

  • separating himself from others at his home or accommodation in such manner as shall be required under Ministry of Health (COVID-19) Guidelines; and
  • remaining at his home or accommodation at all times (except to seek urgent medical care);
  • complying with self-monitoring and reporting requirements of a Public Health Officer; and
  • immediately returning to his home or accommodation when so ordered by a Health Officer or police officer.
  1. Active monitoring or isolation

A person under public health supervision in paragraph 2 may be further placed under active monitoring or isolation where a Public Health Officer determines that such placing is necessary to prevent or limit the risk of the spread of infection of COVID-19 in Bermuda.

  1. Penalty for Non-compliance

Any person who fails to comply with this Notice shall be subject to a fine of $6,000 to $10,000 and/or up to three months imprisonment, as provided in regulation 33 of Public Health (COVI-19) Regulations 2020.
