Apply for a CAPS ID number

You must apply for a Customs Automated Processing System (CAPS) ID Number if you are:

  • a commercial importer;
  • claiming duty relief; or
  • submitting an electronic declaration.

Your CAPS ID Number is unique to you and you should quote it on any documents presented to the Customs Department.

How do I apply?

You can apply in person to the CAPS Team at Customs Head Office, or by submitting the application form electronically. You will be required to bring in a valid form of government issued identification.
