Lefroy House Care Community

The Lefroy House Care Community is a government owned, multi-level elder care home that promotes purpose, fun, and spontaneity in the lives of elders. It sits on attractive and spacious grounds just outside of Dockyard in Sandys Parish. The care home is within easy reach of shops, on the public transportation route and can accommodate 40 elders. 

Lefroy House provides long-term residential, personal, and nursing services to successfully placed elders in a home environment. The care community offers the following programmes and services:

  • 24-hour personal and nursing care
  • physician, nutritionist, pharmacy, dental, physiotherapy, occupational, and speech therapy
  • chiropody
  • recreation, including outings for residents
  • adult day care
  • laundry

Meals at Lefroy House

Elders enjoy three meals per day that can be served in-room, on the patio, in the garden, or in the café lounge. The cook prepares a varied menu planned in cooperation with a government nutritionist and special diets and preferences are accommodated. Snacks and a choice of beverage are served upon request or at 7am, 10am, 3pm, and 7pm.

Short-term stays

Lefroy House offers short-term accommodation for individuals in need of assistance following surgery, an illness, or during a caregiver’s vacation time. Stays can be arranged for periods of a weekend up to six weeks. Additional information from a physician is required.

How to place an elder at Lefroy House

Families or community members who are interested in placing an elder at Lefroy House must first contact a doctor or community health worker. Elders must be referred by a physician to the Geriatric Assessment Planning and Placement (GAPP) Team at the hospital. The GAPP teams evaluates the referral, performs a functional assessment, and recommends the required level of care. Successful applicants will be notified by the Care Home Administrator. Day care and respite referrals are made directly to the care home.
