The Ministry of Public Works and Environment reminds commercial and recreational fishers that the “Grouper Boxes”, which contain important Black Grouper aggregations, remain closed to fishing until 1 December 2026. These areas are indicated on the maps as “Extended Closure Areas”.

While the areas around the Red Hind aggregations opened last week, fishing is still prohibited in the “Grouper Boxes” as the Black Grouper has a longer reproductive season than the Red Hind.
