The Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport, the Hon. Owen Darrell, JP, MP, attended a luncheon hosted by Grotto Bay Beach Resort on June 29th to mark the completion of the latest phase of the property's ongoing renovation project, including the opening of its newly renovated guest rooms.
Minister Darrell said, "I was pleased to join the Grotto Bay team for this special occasion and to see firsthand the significant investments being made to enhance one of Bermuda's longstanding tourism properties. The Government is committed to supporting strategic reinvestment that strengthens our tourism product, enhances the visitor experience, and reinforces confidence in Bermuda as a premier destination. I congratulate Grotto Bay on reaching this important milestone and look forward to the completion of the remaining phases of the project."
In May 2025, the Legislature passed a tourism investment order to support the work at Grotto Bay. Tourism investment orders support qualifying tourism properties undertaking significant capital improvements to strengthen Bermuda's tourism product. The resort has carried out its redevelopment in phases, with the newly completed guest rooms representing the latest stage of the project.
Work continues on the development of a second guestroom building, a new hydro plant facility and additional staff accommodations. With the exception of the additional staff accommodations, the entire project is scheduled to be completed by 2027.
The Ministry commends Grotto Bay for its continued investment in Bermuda's hospitality industry and remains committed to supporting initiatives that drive economic growth, create employment opportunities, and ensure the island continues to offer a world-class visitor experience.
