Negotiations of Passport Printing Issues

Minister Caines travelled to London along with the Cabinet Secretary to address the passport printing issues that Bermudians were having and to negotiate having Bermuda passports printed on island.   

Exercise Tradewinds Phase 2

Minister Caines accomapanied the Royal Bermuda Regiment at phase 2 of Exercise Tradewinds. Tradewinds is a Caribbean-focused training exercise designed to help participants better respond to natural disasters, land and maritime threats. Phase 2 concentrates on maritime, law enforcment, an operation centre test and field training. 

Exercise Tradewinds Phase 1

Minister Caines travelled with the Royal Bermuda Regiment to the Dominican Republic to participate in Phase 1 of Exersice Tradewinds. Tradewinds is a Caribbean- focused trainning exersice designed to help participants better respond to natural disasters, land and maritime threats. Phase 1 focused on maritime interjection, ground security, an interagency command post and field trainning.

Review Miami Emergency Operations Centres

The Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne M. Caines JP, MP and members of the Ministry of National Security travelled to Miami for a two day review of their Emergency Operations Centres (EOC). The aim of the visit was to review the facilities' best practices and how their procecdures could enhance Bermuda's emergency operations. During the visit, the Ministrys deligation conducted security reviews of key emergency facilities in Broward and Weston County.

Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization Forum

The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) recognises the need to bring to the attention of its members and other ICT stakeholders the latest ICT developments and their impact on society. This Forum entitled “Digital Transformation for Development: People, Processes and Technology” will highlight how the digital transformation is affecting our lives, how we live, how we work and how we play.  For the digital transformation to be effective, it must be supported by a resilient broadband network which in turn must be made available to the majority of the world’s population.

Blockchain Futurist Conference

The Minister of National Security attended the Blockchain Futurist Conference on August 16th in Toronto, Canada, where he spoke on two panels; 1) discussion on blockchain regulation and 2) discussion on Bermuda FinTech Strategy. The Minister attended seven media interviews and fifteen meetings with industry stakeholders including potential companies interested in domiciling in Bermuda. The Minister also met with Stuart G.

KORIED Global Summit

The Minister of National Security travelled to Miami, Florida to attend the KORIED Global Summit in July, where he presented on Blockchain and Bermuda's FinTech Strategy. This summit had representation from over 12 Caribbean, Canadian, and U.S. Governments which included finance and IT professionals, Government Officials, Investment and Actuarial consultants, public and Taft Hartley pension fund trustees and staff.
