Minister Gibbons led the BBDA-hosted Canadian Roadshow to Toronto and Calgary, which introduced the benefits of establishing Bermuda-based captive insurance companies and eCommerce entities to executive audiences.
Minister Gibbons, together with the Minister of Finance, accompanied the Premier to the annual RIMS Conference. While there, Minister Gibbons also had meetings with prospective companies who are interested in having a presence in Bermuda.
The purpose of the trip was to meet with US Congressional Representatives and to attend the 63rd National Prayer Breakfast.
Minister Gibbons accompanied the Premier who was also accompanied by Mrs. Cherie Whitter, Deputy Head of the Civil Service and Ms. Nea Talbot, Public Affairs Officer.
Dr. the Hon. E. Grant Gibbons, Minister of Education and Economic Development accompanied Premier Dunkley who was invited by the America's Cup Event Authority to New York to witness the announcement of the venue selected to host the 2017 America's Cup. Bermuda and San Diego were the two finalists.
The Minister accompanied the Premier on meetings with several companies interested in establishing financial service businesses in Bermuda. The Premier and the Minister were accompanied by the CEO of the Bermuda Business Development Agency.
