In July 2017, as part of its 2017 Platform, the Government issued a pledge to review the Project Agreement between the Bermuda Airport Authority and Bermuda Skyport Corporation Limited to see if Bermuda can get a better deal.
The contract was entered into by the former Government through the Canadian Commercial Corporation on behalf of the Canadian Government and Canada's largest public construction and infrastructure development company, Aecon.
The Public Private Partnership transaction between Aecon and the Bermuda Government includes the construction of a new airport terminal building and a 30 year lease at the L.F. Wade International Airport.
The review itself was undertaken by the Authority using its global infrastructure advisor, LeighFisher.
