Immediate Suspension of the Rockaway Ferry Stop

The Department of Marine and Ports has today issued notice to the public and commuters using the Rockaway Ferry stop that, effective tomorrow, Monday, 4 July, services are suspended due to ongoing repairs to the bow loading ramp.  The Rockaway ramp conditions have made it unsafe for pilots to load passengers onboard the ferry.  Currently, the Department of Works and Engineering are on site and working on repairs at the ferry stop. 

South Road, Paget Lane Closure For Road Side Wall Repair Works

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists and pedestrians that there will be a lane closure taking place on South Road near the Paget Traffic Lights for repairs to the road side wall.

The lane closure will be on the Westbound Lane on South Road and will take place on Tuesday 12th January and Wednesday 13th January, 2021 between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm.

Cemetery Road Reopening

The public will recall the Ministry of Public Works advisory from December 2018 announcing the closure of Cemetery Road, between Cemetery Lane and the bridge to Gorham’s Limited, to facilitate construction of BELCO’s North Power Plant (NPP). The road closure, originally scheduled for just over one year, continued for just over two years.

Recently, the announcement was made that Cemetery Road is reopened for public access.

The Ministry would like to take this opportunity to provide the public with some background information on the decision to reopen Cemetery Road.

Harrington Sound Primary School Update

A statement from the Minister of Education, the Hon. N.H. Cole Simons, JP, MP:

"This morning the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Freddie Evans surveyed the Harrington Sound Primary school campus with the building manager and foreman from Works and Engineering. Following the independent pest control company's removal of bird nests and fumigation, the Government Safety and Health Officer did not see any evidence of bird mites in the classrooms however, points of access for birds in the roofs and eaves must be sealed in order to avoid a reoccurrence of the problem.

Sea Water Screening Plant - Band Screen Replacement

The Government of Bermuda’s Tynes Bay Waste-to-Energy Facility would like to enter into an agreement with a suitably qualified contractor to supply, install and commission two travelling band screens for the removal of debris from the sea water cooling system.

Swing Bridge Temporary Repairs 2023

This Request for Quotations (the "RFQ") is an invitation by the Government of Bermuda (the "Government") to prospective respondents to submit non-binding quotations for Swing Bridge Temporary Repairs 2023, as further described in Section A of the RFQ Particulars (Appendix D) (the "Deliverables").

The Ministry of Public Works requires urgent repairs to the Swing Bridge in St. George's.

Financial Feasibility Study for the Department of Works and Engineering Quarry Operations

This Request for Proposals (the "RFP") is an invitation by the Government of Bermuda (the "Government") to prospective proponents to submit proposals for a Financial Feasibility Study Quarry Operations as further described in Section A of the RFP Particulars (Appendix D) (the "Deliverables").

Pipe Installation Services

The Ministry of Public Works seeks to generate a list of prequalified companies that are interested in being included in an approved list of HDPE pipe and duct installation contractors. The government intends to issue at least two pipe installation contracts of 12,000 feet to 17,000 feet of pipes ranging in size from 6" in diameter to 12" in diameter in the near to medium term.Pre-qualified and ranked Contractor's and Service Providers may then be invited to participate in a second stage, fast-track tender process for pipe installation projects.
