  • The Bermuda Post Office (BPO) wishes to advise the public that all sub post offices will be closed between 8am and 10am on Tuesday morning (24th January 2017) due to a staff meeting. The General Post Office, which is located on Church Street in Hamilton, will not be affected and that location will open for business at 8am as usual.

  • Members of the public are invited to submit requests to rezone property or amend policies in the Bermuda Plan 2008. Requests should be submitted on a Rezoning Request form and emailed to jamarshall@gov.bm or submitted by hand to the Department of Planning, 5th Floor, Dame Lois Browne-Evans Building, 58 Court Street no later than Friday, 31March 2017.

Health clinics in Bermuda

Go to the hospital in all cases of serious illness or injury, or if you aren’t sure if your illness or injury is serious.

Adult immunization and travel health clinic 

Offers immunization and an internationally-recognized certificate of vaccination. Fill out the Trip Planning Questionnaire in advance to assist your travel clinic physician.  

Vaccines are country-specific; visit the clinic to learn which vaccines you will need for your specific trip. 

Please note:  Yellow Fever vaccine is only given on Thursday Travel Health Clinic sessions.

You require an appointment to see a physician at the travel clinic. Book in advance. 

The clinic is open to unemployed or uninsured adults or anyone needing immunizations required for travel. Clients with unexplained rashes or eye infections are seen during the morning at the walk-in clinic.

Child and school health clinic 

The child and school health division provides children and their parents with: 

  • immunisations and preventive health services  

  • referrals to other agencies or specialists  

  • dental, nutrition, psychosocial needs, and growth and development assessments  

  • patient education and family planning information  

  • sexually transmitted infection services by community health nurses to primary, middle, senior and private schools  

  • assist in the identification and education of children with disabilities  

  • tuberculosis screening and meningitis immunizations for studying abroad

Communicable disease clinic 

Provides information on the most effective way to prevent the transmission of communicable diseases including HIV and AIDS and Tuberculosis and assists people who are infected to identify support, strengths and resources they need. The Communicable Diseases Clinic is a walk-in clinic. It offers the following services:  

  • educates, screens, and encourage risk reduction for positive health outcomes  

  • tests for sexually transmitted infections  

  • pre- and post-test counselling for STIs and HIV/AIDS  

  • presentations in schools and for the general public, upon request 

  • referrals to appropriate services 

The sexual health centre provides free condoms in its office.

Maternal health and family planning clinics

The Maternal Health and Family Planning Clinic of the Department of Health provide care for women of childbearing age. Care is provided for reproductive health and pregnancy. Clients under 16 years of age must attend with a parent or legal guardian. 

The MHFP clinics provide a number of services including:

  • Tests for pregnancy
  • Care for pregnant women, including immunizations
  • Birth control, including the “morning after pill”
  • Tests to detect cervical cancer (pap tests) and breast exams
  • Tests for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and treatment of STIs
  • Child birth classes and women’s health talks in the community

Oral health clinic 

The Government of Bermuda’s oral health clinic provides dental care for people under 18 and over 65 years of age. The clinic provides: 

  • oral health services in the school or clinical settings  

  • preventive consultative services such as oral health education, oral hygiene instruction, and dietary counselling 

  • clinical preventive care such as dental prophylaxis, scaling and polishing, fluoride treatment, sealants, and preventive resin restorations 

  • restorative care including dental restorations, routine dental surgery, limited endodontic treatment, treatment of periodontal disease  

  • comprehensive dental care under general anaesthesia for appropriately selected patients

Seniors’ wellness clinics 

The Department of Health runs weekly and bi-weekly health screenings for seniors at three locations in Bermuda. These Wednesday clinics provide: 

  • adult immunizations
  • basic screenings
  • blood pressure screening and monitoring
  • blood sugar screening
  • functional assessments
  • health education and promotion
  • home safety and functional assessments of activities for daily living
  • immunisations
  • prevention guidance in the areas of aging, safety, medication, falls and chronic illnesses
  • nutrition assessment and counselling
