Statement from Ministry of Transport

The Ministry of Transport is pleased that the laws of Bermuda have been respected, and the bus operators returned to work earlier today following the Gazetting of a labour dispute on Monday by the Minister of Labour. The Ministry is also pleased that the staff represented by the Bermuda Industrial Union at the Department of Marine and Ports returned to work today.

When a matter has been referred by the Minister of Labour for Arbitration, parties are able to come to an agreement in advance of a tribunal. At this time, there is no finalised agreement on this matter, and if/when an agreement is finalised in advance of a tribunal, that will be shared with the public in the interest of full transparency.

The Ministry is grateful for the men and women who continue to work on the front line to provide public services during this outbreak of the Delta Variant.  Everyone has a role to play in stopping the spread of the coronavirus. Please follow Public Health guidelines, wear a mask, practice good hand hygiene, maintain physical distance and download the WeHealth Bermuda App.
