Special Person's ID Card & Senior Driver's Licence

Learn how to apply for a Special Person's Identification Card or a Senior Driver's Licence through the Transport Control Department (TCD), including required documents, steps, and applicable fees.


Special Person’s Identification Card

A Special Person’s Card is issued to individuals with qualifying mental or physical disabilities to assist with accessibility and concessions.

Steps to Apply:


Obtain Medical Letter

Obtain a signed medical letter from a registered medical practitioner confirming the nature of the physical or mental disability.

Provide Supporting Documents

Valid Bermuda identification (e.g., passport or driver’s licence)

Proof of address (if required)

Submit Documents

Submit the signed medical letter and supporting documents to TCD.

Processing and Approval

Applications are reviewed, and once approved, the card will be issued.

Pay applicable fee for issuance:

Fee: $1.13

Senior Driver’s Licence

A Senior Driver’s Licence is issued to persons aged 65 and over, subject to medical fitness requirements.

Steps to Apply or Renew:


Obtain Application for Driver’s Licence or Learner’s Permit form

Collect the form from Transport Control Department or download it from the official Government of Bermuda website.

Complete Application for Driver’s Licence or Learner’s Permit form

Have a registered doctor complete the Application for Driver’s Licence or Learner’s Permit form.

Provide Supporting Documents

Valid Bermuda identification (e.g., passport or driver’s licence)

Proof of address (if required)

Submit Required Documents

Attend the front desk at the Transport Control Department to submit documents and complete processing.

Issuance of Licence

Once approved, the Senior Driver’s Licence will be issued.

Free
