Premier gives toys to children

This year, in lieu of a Christmas party Premier, the Hon E. David Burt, JP, MP, will give 250 toys to the Department of Financial Assistance and Child and Family Services for children in need. Toys and gifts were generously were purchased from the Peoples Pharmacy and the Annex Store. Both of these establishments kindly extended generous discounts for this initiative. The Premier was joined today at the gift presentation by Senator Lindsay Simmons, who assisted in procuring the gifts, as well as Ms. Pandora Glasford, the Director of the Department of Financial Assistance and Maureen Trew, Senior Program Manager at the Department of Child and Family Services.

“Recognising that there are many families who are experiencing economic challenges this year, I wanted to help by providing Christmas presents to children in need,” said Premier Burt.  “I am thankful for the assistance from Senator Lindsay, Director Glasford and Ms. Trew, and the support from both Peoples and the Annex in assisting the children in our community.”
