Premier Burt Remarks - Hurricane Ernesto Press Conference

Ernesto_Press_Briefing

Good afternoon, Minister Weeks, Bermuda Weather Service Director Pitcher, Mr Lyndon Raynor of members of the local & international media - and good afternoon Bermuda.

I am pleased to be joined at this press conference by persons who represent the Emergency Measures Organisation who will provide Bermuda with the latest update on Hurricane Ernesto. As we continue to monitor Hurricane Ernesto's approach, I want to reinforce the message that has been shared by the Minister of National Security on the importance of staying informed and prepared.

The Government and the Emergency Measures Organisation (EMO) are fully engaged, working around the clock and guided by the Bermuda Weather Service to ensure you have the latest and most accurate information. I encourage everyone to stay tuned to the official Government channels only to stay updated. I thank all of the emergency agencies, public officers, and first responders who have been and will continue to work around the clock and throughout the weekend. To quote former Premier Alex Scott, “Bermuda works best when we work together,” and this time will be no different. So let us please be sure to check on your neighbours, particularly the elderly and those most vulnerable.

To all of Bermuda, stay safe, continue to follow the guidance provided by our experts through the official channels, and please give your full support and cooperation to our emergency services.

I will now pass over to Director Pitcher from the Bermuda Weather Service for an update. Thank you.
