Premier Burt engages US Policymakers and Tech Leaders at DC Blockchain Summit 2026

Blockchain Summit 2026

The Premier and Minister of Finance of Bermuda, the Hon. David Burt, JP, MP, travelled to Washington, DC, last week to attend the 2026 DC Blockchain Summit, one of the United States’ leading summits focused on advancing responsible digital asset innovation and regulation through practical policy and public-private collaboration.

The Premier was accompanied by officials from the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA), Ministry of Finance and the Government of Bermuda Washington DC Office.

Hosted by The Digital Chamber, the Summit brought together federal lawmakers, regulators, and senior industry leaders to discuss the future of blockchain technology and financial innovation.

During the Summit, Premier Burt engaged in discussions with policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders on regulatory cooperation, market integrity, and the evolving global framework for digital assets. The conversations highlighted Bermuda’s experience developing a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital asset businesses under the Digital Asset Business Act (DABA), and the role of the Bermuda Monetary Authority in supporting responsible innovation.

Bermuda’s participation in this year’s Summit strengthened the island’s U.S. partnerships in areas including stablecoins, payments interoperability, tokenisation, and supervisory approaches for emerging financial technologies. Premier Burt participated in a ‘fireside’ with Raja Chakravorti, Chief Business Officer of the Stellar Development Foundation, in which the two discussed Bermuda’s broader vision to become the world’s fully on-chain economy and other ongoing initiatives to modernise financial infrastructure on the island.

In addition to participating in Summit programming, the Premier participated in bilateral meetings with members of Congress with House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (MN-06), Representative Steven Horsford (NV-04), Representative Bryan Steil (WI-01),  Representatives Nikki Budzinski (IL-13), in addition to senior Trump Administration officials. In these conversations, Premier Burt expressed Bermuda’s willingness to support the upcoming implementation of the United States’ digital asset regulation, in addition to aligning on comparability standards between the GENIUS Act and Bermuda’s Digital Asset Business Act.

The visit reinforced Bermuda’s position as an important participant in global policy conversations on financial innovation.
