Save the date Bermuda. On July 18, starting at 12.00 p.m., the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sport will have a series of celebration activities to recognize the achievement of Bermuda’s Special Olympians at the World Games in Berlin last month.
Nineteen (19) athletes participated in a range of sports, including athletics, bowling and tennis, among others. Their combined performances yielded an impressive 11 gold, silver and bronze medals for Bermuda and they were recently welcomed home to huge cheers and congratulations (see video here: Special Olympians Welcomed Home)
In light of their outstanding performances next Tuesday, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport Sen. the Hon. Owen K. Darrell, JP, as well as members of the Cabinet will publicly recognise the special athletes with events that include a motorcade to the Cabinet Office, a presentation of Certificates of Acknowledgement to the Medal winners, followed by a Lunch Reception at the National Sports Centre Pavilion for the Special Olympians and their family members.
Members of the public are encouraged to join in and follow the celebratory motorcade and presentation events at the Cabinet Office.
