This year marks Mirrors’ tenth year of providing services to the community. To celebrate, Mirrors and its alumni board will be hosting a series of events during the summer months.
Celebrations begin with an art and digital competition for budding artists from elementary through to high school. The exhibit will be held at Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art on July 21, 2017 through August 16, 2017. The show will open with a corporate key stakeholder social on July 21, 2017. Individual prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place at elementary, middle and high school levels. There will also be school prizes awarded. Submissions will be judged by three judges, with prizes awarded according to the competition’s judging criteria. The prize presentation ceremony will be Thursday September 14, 2017.
The celebrations continue with a Youth Explosion and Mirrors volunteer and participant reunion on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Victoria Park. The Youth Explosion will highlight youth self-expression through performing arts, spoken word, past participant inspirational speeches and interactive activities while bringing together those who have participated in the programme or volunteered with Mirrors in the past.
In addition to 10-year celebrations, the organization is expanding programming this year. Mirrors will host two Junior Forum SuperCamp programmes for middle school students in partnership with Quantum Learning Network in addition to its Community Programme for 15-18 year olds.
