Earlier this week, Minister of Health Kim Wilson visited the Bermuda Blood Donor Centre at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital to donate blood.

Minister Wilson said, “Donating blood during the holidays is a powerful way to spread joy and goodwill. The festive season, while a time of celebration, can also increase accidents, medical emergencies, and a higher demand for blood supplies.

“By donating during this particular time, we are offering the gift of life to those in need. Our generosity can make the season brighter for individuals facing health challenges, creating a positive ripple effect that embodies the true spirit of giving. I am genuinely grateful for the chance to contribute meaningfully to this vital cause.

“I encourage those eligible to give blood, as doing so holds incredible value for our community. Your contribution can make a significant impact on the well-being of others.”

Donating blood plays a crucial role in saving lives during medical emergencies, surgeries, and treatments, offering a beacon of hope and support to those in need. Donating blood is simple, does not take long and is painless.

People who want to book an appointment to donate blood should contact the Bermuda Blood Donor Centre by phone 236-5067, WhatsApp 933-9553 or email blood.donor@bhb.bm. The blood donation site https://bermudahospitals.bm/be-a-donor/ also has more information and the latest criteria for donating.
