The Minister of Community Affairs and Sports Lovitta Foggo has joined the sporting community in extending condolences following the recent passing of one of Bermuda’s football icons, Earl “Townsey” Russell.
Minister Foggo said, “‘Townsey’ as he was affectionately known had a long and distinguished career. He was an outstanding player locally and proudly represented Bermuda when he played internationally. His talent and skill helped to pave the way for the generation that came behind him. Earl Russell was also an avid golfer and tennis player and was recognised for his sporting achievements by being inducted into Bermuda’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. We are grateful for Earl Russell’s contribution to our sports community, he will be sadly missed. On behalf of the Ministry of Community Affairs and Sports, I extend our sincerest condolences and our thoughts and prayers to Mr. Russell’s family.”
