Mini Biz-Camp

The Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative (YEI) in conjunction with the Economic Development Department will offer a Mini-BizCamp from February 14 - 19, 2022.

The camp will be a combination of in-person workshops and on-line video lectures.

This blended learning model will feature the award winning NFTE Curriculum modified for the YEI’s BizCamp format along with informative, interactive activities.

Participants will log in through the Bermuda Entrepreneurship Schools platform to learn about opportunity recognition, cost of goods, pricing, industry analysis, target customers, marketing, and many other aspects of running a company. At the end of the week, each participant will present the business plan for their own company.

Raymond Jones, Director of the Economic Development Department said, “Entrepreneurship is a crucial pillar of our economy. Nurturing the entrepreneurial aspirations in Bermuda’s young people is something this Government is committed to. The EDD is pleased to continue to support BizCamps for this project, and we can’t wait to see what great ideas our students will present at the end of the week.”

There’s no cost to young people interested in learning how to start and run their own business. During the past 20 years over 1,000 young people have participated in the yearly BizCamps.

Joe Mahoney, Executive Director of the YEI added, “The goal is to inspire young people to become business-savvy and understand economic self-sufficiency through self-employment.”

Upon completion, all participants will be awarded certificates, and some may be eligible to enter in the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation’s Youth Rocket Pitch Competition in October 2022, where they’ll have a chance to win prizes and venture funding of up to $2,500 to further their entrepreneurial journey.

Jamillah Lodge of the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation said, “This is an awesome opportunity to see what the future of Bermudian entrepreneurship looks like.”

Registration for the mini-Biz Camp is currently open and closes February 12th. Online applications are available at www.yei.bm, or send an email to: BizCamp@yei.bm
