The Ministry of Home Affairs would like to advise members of the public, and restaurants that they can still purchase and possess lobsters through the month of April.
The Minister of Home Affairs, the Hon Walter Roban said, “Normally, by the end of the season, March 31st 2020, most of the lobsters would have been sold because of orders from restaurants and hotels. Because most are closed the remaining inventory cannot be sold. This will allow the commercial lobster fishermen and commercial enterprises more time to sell their stock. However the season has ended and there shall be no more fishing for lobsters, either recreationally or commercially. Nor can any lobsters caught recreationally before the 1st April 2020 be sold”.
This extension applies to existing stock caught prior to April 1st 2020. The public should be aware that any live lobsters will be presumed to be illegally caught and should not be purchased or possessed.
