The Transport Control Department (TCD) will launch Phase Two of its enhanced digital applications on July 14, as part of its efforts to simplify and modernize vehicle-related services. These updates are designed to improve efficiency, increase transparency, and enhance the overall customer experience.
The first phase became available online starting March 31, 2025, and included digital applications for Project Ride Instructor, Exemptions, and the Importation and replacement of vehicles and parts.
“The new system automates routine TCD tasks, allowing staff to focus on more complex services,” said Minister of Tourism, Transport, Culture & Sport, Owen Darrell. “Customers benefit from a streamlined process with tailored guidance, reducing the need for repeated visits and minimizing incomplete applications. Applicants are also kept informed with regular updates and estimated response times.”
By centralizing applications in a digital platform, the risk of lost documentation is reduced, and communication is more transparent. The system also provides valuable data insights to support better decision-making and a safer, more organized transportation network.
Among the enhanced services is the online application to change a vehicle’s category. Registered owners can now easily apply to reclassify a registered vehicle.
The Classic Motor Car application has also been digitized to enable persons to apply to import or classify a vehicle, which must be at least 25 years old and meet the criteria under the Motor Car Act 1951.
The Sporting Association Trailer Permit process has been simplified as well.
Minister Darrell added, “The initiative aims to reduce red tape, improve efficiency, and allow applicants to access services outside traditional office hours.”
