Diabetes Prevention Day

“Diabetes prevention is vital for reducing the health, economic, and societal burdens associated with the disease,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP, “I am grateful to the Bermuda Diabetes Association for hosting the free health screenings, lunch-and-learn and diabetes assessments during their Diabetes Prevention Day (August 14) and I was more than happy to attend for my screening including getting an HBA1c test.

“The Bermuda Diabetes Association do such good work in support of so many people in Bermuda as they continue to lead our community in reducing the prevalence of diabetes. On behalf of the Government of Bermuda, I extend a big thank you to the incredible team at the Bermuda Diabetes Association.

“The Diabetes Prevention Day was a good opportunity to promote healthy lifestyles and encourage individuals and our community to take proactive steps to avoid the onset of type 2 diabetes and its potentially life-threatening complications.”
